The FCN Team
Ajay Rastogi is a seeker and is able to openly share the failures and the successes alike. His holistic work in the fields of environment, agriculture, livelihoods and ethical business practices has been honoured and recognised both nationally and internationally.
He is the recipient of the South Asia Youth Leaders Award, European Union Erasmus Mundus Fellowship in Applied Ethics and the Nehru-Fulbright Environmental Leadership Award for Contemplative Education. His passion for integrity and wholeness in life led him to explore deep in the eastern as well as western philosophical and ethical traditions for a sustainable society. Based on his extensive national and global experience spanning over 20 years, he devised a practice called Contemplation of Nature primarily aimed at behaviour and attitude change. This technique has been widely appreciated, nationally as well as internationally, as a way to connect deeply with the world outside as well as inside. To complement the learning with action he has designed a residential course, 'Pathways to Sustainable Development' for a rich experiential and dynamic experience.
Ajay is the founder member of the Foundation for Contemplation of Nature and has established the Himalayan Centre in the village Majkhali. Here you can watch Ajay talking about Contemplating Nature. His extended network with other institutions promoting contemplative practices and education include the Centre for Contemplative Mind in Society and the Mind and Life Institute. He has attended several international trainings and retreats on the subject e.g. the Contemplative Environmental Educators Workshop; and the Sustainability and Contemplative Practice Retreat.
Ajay brings with him a balanced focus in life, akin to the middle path for greater recognition and care of the biological and agricultural roots of human civilisation in order to positively influence the current thinking in the industrial society.
